RLF COMMUNICATIONS
BACKGROUND
RLF Communications is a public relations agency that works with a variety of clients in the financial, manufacturing, nonprofit, and hospitality industries and is based in Greensboro, North Carolina. While serving as an intern during the fall semester of my junior year in college, I had the pleasure of working on several client accounts, including Biscuitville and The Streets at Southpoint. Additionally, I assisted with brainstorming creative marketing campaign angles for other client accounts when needed.
TEAMWORK AND COLLABORATION
For much of my internship, I worked cross-collaboratively with account supervisors and communications managers. They would help review drafts and offer suggestions for edits before clients saw the final works.
THE SOLUTION
I was able to create over 30 external communications, including press releases, media advisories, social media captions, and press pitches) for clients of RLF Communications. I also helped strengthen relations with local, state, and national media outlets and identified key press opportunties for several clients.
BISCUITVILLE
Biscuitville is regional fast food chain that sepecializes in serving traditional southern breakfast foods and biscuits made with local ingredients from scratch. As the fast food chain was expanding their presence throughout North Carolina and Virginia, I helped support the grand openings of new restaurant locations by writing press releases and media advisories to generate an increase in attendance and media attention around the new location openings. Two of the restaurant grand openings I got to help out with were in Hickory, North Carolina and in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
THE STREETS AT SOUTHPOINT
The Streets at Southpoint comprises a shopping mall, restaurants, and several robust entertainment experiences and is based in Durham, North Carolina. The retail complex consistently receives over 1 million visitors on a monthly basis since they opened their doors in 2002. During my internship, I helped put together a media advisory detailing information about seasonal retailers coming to The Streets at Southpoint for the holiday season as the retail complex was preparing for an influx of new shoppers eager to purchase gifts for their family, friends and loved ones.
