BACKGROUND
WFMY News 2 is a television broadcast news station based in Greensboro, North Carolina. Multimedia journalists, news anchors, producers, and the digital team work together to publish and update content daily for WFMYNews2.com and newscasts. WFMY News 2 covers local news, crime, money, politics, education, health, weather, lifestyle, and sports stories across the Piedmont-Triad in North Carolina.
CONTENT CREATION, STREAMING, AND SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT
As a Digital Content Producer, I am responsible for curating and managing WFMY News 2’s digital presence. I write digital articles across a variety of categories, including breaking news, business, education, lifestyle, sports, crime, and weather. I stream high-visibility events and press conferences on WFMY+ (streaming platform) and on YouTube. I utilize Social News Desk and Google Trends to keep a close watch on what WFMY viewers are chatting about on social media and trending topics.
NEWSROOM COLLABORATION
Much of my role allows me to work closely with multimedia journalists, news producers, directors, and meteorologists. In editorial meetings, I give an overview of top trending stories and online search patterns to the newsroom.
Much of my work involves researching, pitching, writing, and editing news stories. My pitches are often shaped by what I am seeing trending online and what I find WFMY viewers are talking about through social listening. During breaking news or severe weather situations, I partner with reporters and the weather team to provide real-time updates on WFMY’s website and mobile app.
